Princess Party – Marsmellow Candy Sticks

These sticks are quite sweet and simple.

I chased down some marsmellows, white chocolate, paper straws, red food color and sugar stars in white, and this is all you need

I melted the white chocolate slowly and added a few drops of red food color to make it more pink.

Placed a marshmallow on each stick and dipped in into the chocolate.

Had gathered the small sugar stars in a cup before and turned to marsmellow into this after. Then placed them on a plate to dry.

Princess Party – preparing the table

Celebrating my birthday with my dear friends are coming up… So the next few days, I will be all covered up in princess decorations, baking and more.

First of I made some napkin rings cut out as small princess crowns. I cut out some longer pieces of the golden glitter paper that I bought.

On the inside I measured and painted small dots to cut by.

Folded the paper over a table edge to make it bend nicely and put it together with a stabeler.

Here is the final result in my hand and around the napkin:

DIY Fondant for Cupcake decorations

It’s my birthday.. And I honestly spend all the day in the kitchen preparing for my family dinner tomorrow.

But I do like the kitchen… I really love it here.

After a move, money’s kind of short, but I don’t want my guest to lack anything. Not even the icing on the cakes. I usually buy fondant, but found a easy recipy on Pinterest on how to melt Marshmallows.

I had to work a lot with the Fondant, and happened to put in too much flour.. So it’s a bit to the dry end. Yet, it was easy -and I have loads for next half years projects.

A close-up of the Cupcake Flowers, where I added a small green sugar pearl.

Along with one from the actual birthday celebration with small birthday candles in it. It really makes a huge difference with lights lit in them.

DIY Bookcases for a baby girl

My friend Betina is soon having a little baby girl. They are living in a quite small apartment with almost no room, but is making some special furniture for Anika once she arrives.

Betina had bought bookcases of wood, 3 different types of paint – and a wood letter.. Being both in the world of graphic we of course discussed the different ways of painting the whole case, the back or the sides.

We covered the table in old newspaper and taped in the bookcases..

Some muffins and a walk later (2 times paint and dry) we ended up with this nice result:

I don’t think I’d normally half-paint like this, but I do like the effect, especially along with the colors. Really love the result and love doing DIY with my friends.

DIY snowflake in silver

Wanted to make a little snowflake for my candle, now that we are in the middle of the winter season.

So I browsed around Pinterest to come up with a nice idea, and found this easy glue/glitter version.

First off I sketched a snowflake on a piece of paper.

Then I turned the paper around, and put glue on it (this was textile glue, which made it a bit more soft than I wanted… So I will recommend using some other more stabile glue)

After that I sprinkled on the glitter – and let it dry

Dust off the extra glitter, that does not stick to the glue, and peel it off the paper. And there you have your silver glitter snowflake.

Here it is attached to the knitted candle holder

DIY Christmas Table

Christmas Eve – we are running around the house to get everything ready.

The table is set – with plates and glasses.

I bought some lanterns from H&M planning to use them outside in the summer. For now they are the decorations along with green leaves/spruce, red berries and beautiful apples, and not to be forgotten small mushrooms carved in wood. This is nature and Christmas spirit for me.

Doctor Who DIY Tardis

Creating a very special gift for someone special this year. Needless to say, he is a big Doctor Who fan.

I found this key locker cheap and decided to turn it into the famous police box ‘Tardis’. How hard could that be?

First thing – the color. After some searching I located a very blue spray paint in a nearby shop. The weather has been wet – so I decided to spray paint inside.(never ever do that again – I’m still cleaning up small blue particles everywhere)

I covered 2/3 of the glass with blue silk paper using decoupage glue.

I found the signs online (300dpi) and printed them. They were attached to the box with decoupage glue under and on top.

Finishing of the last details, 4 days before Christmas Eve my Doctor Who Police box project was finished. All the shapes of the box is not correct, but there is no doubt of the inspiration.

Advent calender for my parents

It’s become a tradition – and such a great one it is!
Every November I run around to find the last gift for the calendar. The rest has been found or made during the year.

While buying the last gift I found this great wrapping paper/bags in ‘Tiger’ along with the shimmering ribbon. All gifts were wrapped in this and hung on a white hanger with a silver star.

I added small gifttags with numbers and it is now ready to be brought home by my parents.
